The Gramercy Home Guide Story
For almost twenty years, Devon has been on the design side — sitting with homeowners, translating their vision into something buildable, beautiful, and livable. And for almost twenty years, Todd has been on job sites — building homes, managing crews, solving the hundred small problems that come up before a house is ever finished. He's a licensed general contractor who has spent two decades in luxury residential construction.
Between the two of us, that's nearly forty years spent inside the residential construction and design industry. And somewhere along the way, we became the people our friends, family, and neighbors called when things got confusing.
"My builder just told me this — is that actually true?" "The price on our cabinets came in double what we budgeted. Is that normal?" "We're two weeks from signing and I don't understand half of this contract. Can you look at it?"
These conversations happened constantly. At dinners, over the phone, in driveways. People we cared about were making some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives — building a home, renovating one, trusting a builder with their savings and their family's future — and they were doing it without anyone in their corner who actually understood the process from the inside.
We'd walk them through it. Explain what was standard and what wasn't. Help them ask the right questions before it was too late to ask them. And every time, we'd think the same thing: this shouldn't only be available to the people who happen to know us.
That's where Gramercy Home Guide started.
We built it to be the resource we kept wishing existed for the people we loved — one built by people who've actually sat on both sides of the table, as the builder and as the designer. Not a builder's perspective alone, and not a designer's alone, but both, together, because that's where the real answers live.
Building or renovating a home is one of the largest investments most people will ever make — and one of the most emotional. It deserves more than guesswork. It deserves someone in your corner who's seen it all before and is willing to tell you the truth, even when the truth is inconvenient.
And because most people don't just do this once — they build again, renovate a few years later, or help a parent or a grown child through their own project — this isn't something you use and forget. It's something you come back to, project after project, decision after decision.
That's the whole idea behind Gramercy Home Guide: real experience, made useful, made accessible, and built to last as long as you need it.
